maybe bsd fic writers would write more fic for longer if they weren't treated like shit by the fandom but

i got lucky bc 95% of my readers were the absolute sweetest but the influx when s3 came out brought so many "why haven't you updated?" comments and the ways some fic writers try to tear others down is disgusting

this is a discussion for another time but there is a very vocal minority of bsd fic writers that just talk shit about everyone else, get pissy about their numbers, feel entitled about getting popular, and just generally bash whoever they can get away with which

when i joined the fandom, the ppl who befriended me first literally had lists of fic writers not to read because they "perpetuated heteronormative ideals" and there were some Brilliant fic authors on that list whose crimes were... putting chuuya in lingerie

probably half of the fan creators at the time were on this "not good" list and i just consumed their content silently bc i really couldn't see the problems they were claiming to be such a big and horrid part of the fandom

there was a culture of superiority complexes where ppl would see someone else get a popular fic and find any reason to call them problematic and while this degree of overt name-dropping isn't common anymore, there is definitely still a culture of vaguely denouncing

a particular type of fic/art focus/etc. that is borne out of jealousy and entitlement for some content creators. off the top of my head the "smut writing isn't real writing" campaign was absolutely partially targeted at memos and "popular fic isn't good" was so transparent

i've touched on this before but i almost didn't write wyll bc of the backlash i got over dyetyd (all of which happened in dms and is the reason why i just... don't enjoying dm'ing).

also the collection of "purists" in this fandom who denounce literally anyone who writes about mori really need to get knocked off of their high-horses. you're dedicated to the series created by the person who CREATED mori's character. why isn't asagiri canceled?

i'd discuss the fact that fic writer's characterization and plot choices get about twenty times more scrutiny than asagiri's questionable writing choices (hey dj heartbeat dazai) but y'all still aren't ready for that conversation
