It's time for us to actually have this conversation cause it's still not clicking for the ones still holding onto it. Especially the ones to claim to be "Alex stans"
First things first I used to ship them and I believe a lot of Alex stans used to but it's time to grow up and realize this wasn't a good fit for either of them and stop giving Kelly HELL for it. First we start off with red flags in the relationship.
Red flag #1 : Maggie's invasive comment to a closeted Alex. The line speaks for itself honestly and we didn't know any better back then and took it as something funny but it's really not and I can only imagine how uncomfortable Alex was.
Red flag #2 : (Maggie's lying part one)
Maggie when she was convincing Alex to come out the closet she lied about her upbringing (which in some aspects I can see why) but the problem is the way she snapped at Alex for not knowing when Alex just wanted to celebrate her first-
Maggie when she was convincing Alex to come out the closet she lied about her upbringing (which in some aspects I can see why) but the problem is the way she snapped at Alex for not knowing when Alex just wanted to celebrate her first-
- Valentine's day as an out lesbian. Instead she was yelled at and then had an outing story dropped on her from out of nowhere. It just never made sense to me how Maggie could be upset about something Alex didn't even know about.
(Maggie's lying part two) :
Alex was yet again under false pretenses about Maggie's ex. She had taken Maggie's word when she told her that her ex treated her like shit only for it to backfire when her ex revealed to Alex that Maggie cheated and made herself the victim.

Red flag #3 : (This one may be a bit hard to hear) believe it or not the emotional gaslighting in this scene makes me physically uncomfortable and let me explain why -
- Alex confronts Maggie about her lying about being a cheater and immediately you can see in Maggie's face that she's caught up. Maggie then goes into defense mode and gets angry with Alex "bringing it back up". (on Alex's part I'm glad she didn't fall for it). My thing is-
Alex once AGAIN did not know of the situation before and gets snapped at AGAIN for only coming to the realization that Maggie was lying. Which should be pretty fucked up to you guys and shouldn't sit right with you. Maggie is getting mad at Alex for HER OWN LIES!! HELLO? WAKE UP!
Maggie's rivalry with Kara : (I'm gonna be real with y'all rn they were both being annoying and I don't even like Kara so let's just start with that dkfkdjss but a "what's wrong with Kalex" thread is just for another day) the back and forth between them was clearly-
- putting a strain on Alex I mean it was clear she most likely felt they were gonna come to a "choose me" conclusion but the lines that rubs me the wrong way are these-
- this whole scene was literally an argument about who was more important than who. THAT SHOULD NEVER EVEN BE A CONVERSATION!?!?? First off you both love her so WHO CARES? And second off the answer is so very clearly Kara and should be an unsaid thing?????
the need to compare yourself to family (which will soon most likely be your family) should deadass never be a thing and I'm mostly looking towards the writers for this.
Red flag #4 : I don't give a DAMN if you stan or not this line should NOT sit right with you. Her "fresh off the boat" girlfriend messes up and she tells her she gets one chance after that!?!?? I don't need to explain myself enough said.
And finally and most obviously the break up : They miscommunicated in just about every given way possible when it came to this kids situation. They should've had time to speak about it but they rushed a spur of the moment proposal -
- and didn't get the chance. Alex's dream is to be a mother no matter how much the fandom likes to downplay it cause she doesn't talk about it as much now. It shouldn't feel right with you that in order to have them back together someone would have to -
- ultimately sacrifice their happiness whether it's Maggie having kids or Alex giving them up so they can be together. In my opinion if you want them together you don't care about either of them because ultimately they WILL end up spiting one another for it.
