So writing for TV has caused me to question many things. Especially the offhand uncommented and unexplained tropes of TV and movies. I find myself writing a scene in which someone does something I've never seen anyone actually do in real life but happens constantly on TV.

Example: I have never in my life gone into a bathroom during a stressful moment so I could splash water on my face. But everyone on TV and Movies does that. It's how you know they're stressed.

What's thing that TV people do all the time that you have never done?

Me: Drop something important in the toilet on accident.
