an adult here referred to India's post-Independence history as "boring" & thus shouldn't bother with knowing about it. which is fine if you are never going to engage with modern politics which includes representation in media.
it's 2020 and there are adults who think knowing about current events makes you a "know it all granny". didn't realize staying informed had age restrictions. or maybe this fellow is insecure that kids read the news more often than him...
would ask him to reconsider his tweets mocking recent history and political awareness, especially considering the situations worldwide, the current online environment, & the generally accepted rule of adults not barging into convos between teens figuring things out for themselves
all this coming from someone old enough to vote... scary. the time period he labelled as boring is literally happening right now. is shaping not just YA fiction but the our lives and the lives of people around us.
the only reason I'm saying this now is that the tweets I'm addressing in question haven't been taken down yet or apologized for. once they are this thread will be deleted
