BRING DA RUCKUS

This track is a real tempo setter for the album, with a well crafted beat and aggressive bars, with Ghostface and Inspectah Deck shining in particular.

& #39;Wu-Tang slang& #39;ll leave your headpiece hanging& #39; says it all really.

8.5/10
SHAME ON A N****

I love the sample that carries this track, with it having an almost saturday morning cartoon aesthetic to it, which is parallel to sections of the beat which are sparse and then bring in sinister sounding piano.

ODB absolutely kills it on this track.

9/10
CLAN IN DA FRONT

RZA really is the cherry on top of this album in general with the production, and particularly on this track which bleeds his intro well into a hard hitting GZA led song, with excellent wordplay and energy throughout.

8.5/10
WU TANG: 7TH CHAMBER (1/2)

I love how this beat incorporates an almost identical piano melody in the beat to the previous track, but this time GZA isnt left alone to it. The energy in this track from intro to final bar is just so gripping in a way only Wu Tang can be.
WU TANG: 7TH CHAMBER (2/2)

Wu Tang really dont alter the formula much keeping things sinister but its just so consistent and entertaining.

GZA kills it again here- & #39;My clan is thick like plaster, bust ya, slash ya,
Slit a n**** back like Dutch master& #39;

9/10
CAN IT ALL BE SO SIMPLE

This is a more introspective cut on the album, talking about leaving behind the life of crime to succeed as a group from the perspectives of Ghostface and Raekwon. Lower energy than some of the other tracks, but not dull by a long shot.

7/10
DA MYSTERY OF CHESSBOXIN& #39;

Best track on the album for me. The beat is so full of character and nuance, helping to underline some great verses, especially ODB and Raekwon. ODB in particular goes crazy on this one.

10/10
WU TANG CLAN AIN& #39;T NUTHING TA F& #39; WITH (1/2)

Top 3 instrumental on the album here, with some hilarious and violent bars from RZA and Method Man particularly. A classic cut for a reason.
WU TANG CLAN AIN& #39;T NUTHING TA F& #39; WITH (2/2)

The about Wu Tang that separates them from other acts from the same period is the energy and charisma in each beat, bar and flow. It feels like I& #39;m watching a Saturday morning supervillain cartoon in the best way.

9/10
C.R.E.A.M (1/2)

A legendary cut, this beat is a lot more airy than the preceding tracks, which really helps it to stand out. The verses are violent and full of nuance, particularly the way that the bars are so descriptive without glorifying the lifestyle led ads another layer.
C.R.E.A.M (2/2)

& #39;Because you cant just get by no more,
Word up, you gotta get over, straight up and down& #39;

These words ring truer than ever almost 30 years later.

10/10
METHOD MAN

This track is crazy. Method sounds absolutely insane on this beat and the way he rides along it is masterful. The violent skit and clever wordplay makes this a signature track on this album.

9.5/10
PROTECT YA NECK

One of my favourite things about this LP is how cohesive it is, with everything staying on brand and high quality. This track is more of the same, another eerie sounding instrumental with some off the wall braggadocia and one liners. ODB stands out again.

8.5/10
TEARZ (1/2)

This track has a more floaty instrumental again and it sounds great, with a well fitting Wendy Rene sample. This song drops the higher energy for the most part and looks at the lower points of the lives been led so far, from the perspectives of RZA and Ghostface.
TEARZ (2/2)

RZA& #39;s verse in particular stands out to me, very visceral in its storytelling, with its depiction of death on the streets both brutal and touching.

8.5/10
7TH CHAMBER PT 2

The bassline on this beat is absolutely killer- this cut is a strong closer to the album, and whilst it doesn& #39;t switch much up at this point, the standout instrumental helps put an exclamation point on one of the strongest debut records of all time.

8/10
FINAL THOUGHTS (1/2)

If you& #39;re a fan of any form of New York, hardcore, grimy rap music this album is a must listen. Wu Tang is made up collectively by some of the most talented rappers we have ever seen, and this album is a perfect storm of styles &
FINAL THOUGHTS (2/2)

& the quality on display leaves possibly the highest bar a debut album could ever set.

(But you all know this- I& #39;m just preaching to the choir at this point).

MVP& #39;S: RZA, Raekwon, ODB
