I’m getting a lot of “separate the art from the artist.”

Ok. The show had rampant economic discrimination against women.

I count 42 male actors and 12 female actors. 6 to 1 on male characters

19 writers were men and two women

Do remember female characters? BIPOC characters?
The show was EXTREMELY misogynistic — young women only served as props for Ren’s sexual desires.

Was this separating the art from the artist?
The most reoccurring female character was Mrs. Buttoaves

She’s repulsive cause she’s fat. This is the show.
The second most frequent female character is headless —
All of these characters are white btw.

This seems fine:
Separating the artist from the art - the FUNNIEST art is that Stimpy is gay — which means he loves butt sex

Hahhahaha lololol
You can’t separate the misogynistic pervy artist who sexualized children from the sexualized children’s show about a pervy misogynistic dog abusing the gay cat.

I think what you actually want to do ...
You want to separate your childhood memories of the EXCELLENT Space Madness episode + the log song + Mr. Horse from a legacy of abuse, pedophilia, employment discrimination, misogyny, and the conservative Make America Great Again-ness of the show.
This is FINE — do that — LOVE that stuff.

But don’t make us sit through more of it or make creative people be apologists for having to work or undo a legacy when they can make new shows. I want to see first “created bys” and new legacies.
And dudes — bros — buds — if you are going to reply and completely skip over the pedophelia, child sexual abuse, rampant misogny, or employment discrimination to “well actually” — stop. Reflect.

Try to have empathy. No one needs a hot take. We want new creators with new POVs.
