as someone who was brought up in a buddhist household, it is extremely grating to be seeing all these non-buddhist artists using buddha icons and buddha heads in their handmade artwork

The depiction of Buddha is for purely buddhist purposes; it’s a symbol of spiritual reverence. The Buddha is not an accessory or fashion statement for you to use as a trend

using the buddha head (with charms, decorations etc.) is EVEN WORSE because it is an act of violence toward the Buddha. it symbolizes western imperialism and centuries of colonization pillaging our cultural sites for their own gain and exploitation

TL;DR don’t use buddha in your art if you’re just going to use it as an accessory, decoration, or because it’s a trend. it’s offensive and ignorant
