2 people have reached out to me in the last hr suggesting I apply to be the Chair of WDES Steering Group. I would have been delighted to apply. But it is unpaid, & I cannot support organisations asking disabled people (&it should be a disabled person) to work 4 free. @NHSEngland

This role deserves an expert. Expertise is something many of us have and would be willing to share. But it is hugely inappropriate to expect us to do so for nothing, particularly when we know how hard it is for disabled people to find paid employment. Hugely disappointed by this.

To expect someone to take on this role unpaid massively undermines the importance of #WDES - we will NEVER achieve #equality if even roles of this importance are expected to be done as a favour.
