I do not identify as POC and I do not identify as white either. I’m Jewish. That’s it.

I refuse to be categorized to appease an americentric society, and this is my way of protesting. I refuse to place myself on binary that on either end affronts my identity.

I am Latino, I am Sephardi, I am Ashkenazi, I am not white passing. All these things directly tie into my Jewishness, like cause and effect. In the era of intersectionality and identity politics, the fact people can’t accept that is not my problem.

In the process of decolonizing myself and my Judaism, I start with the restrictive American concepts of race, and its terminology, which do not apply to Jews and only cause further divide in our community.

I am Jew, first and foremost. Anything placed before or after that is irrelevant.

This is how I choose to identify myself. Join me.

And, yes, this applies to Ashkenazim who are white passing too if they choose. There is no room for exclusion here.
