🇮🇪 "If it wasn't for you, we'd be speaking Irish "
For info. The Irish language was first banned in 1357 (only crown held territories) , subsequently again in 1541 to enlarge the ban area, finally in 1737 for the entire island. It is still banned in legal processes in the enclave.
I should add, back in the days of the Rockwell 6502 or the Z80 (microprocessors kids ).. keyboards and comms needed simple. English is the simplest language. No gendered words, tenses, agreements. It is basic ( forgive me for the software ref )
