Javagal Srinath took on the baton from Kapil Dev & carried the burden of fast bowling single handedly most of the times on Indian pitches. I was part of the SA tour in 1996/97 where he consistently bowled quicker than Alan Donald, who was dubbed as the quickest in the world then.
Srinath won many tests on Indian pitches. His 13 wkts at Kolkata vs Pak and 6 fer vs SA at Ahmedabad, are class apart. He played in 4 WCs and has the highest no of wkts by an Indian. He has 236 test wkts; and 315 ODI wkts, which is still a record for an Indian fast bowler.
Today to see a book on Indian fast bowling & not have Srinath on the cover page, was truly unbelievable. Yeah, they would’ve covered him in the book. But doesn’t his achievements merit a picture of his on the cover book. Namma Srinath is unbelievable underrated. Forgive us, Sri.
