we won the league and we deserved to win it, there are no doubts about that. however, we have a lot of room for improvement in our attack, rotation and tactics. now onto the three biggest problems of the season.
problem #1: rotation in attack
there is just too much. whereas benzema played almost every minute, mariano and brahim basically didn’t see the field. next on minutes after benz is vini on 1350. this results in a lack of cohesion, as benzemas partners are different every week.

problem #2: chance creation
despite being our best playmaker, it’s clear zidane does not fancy james. isco has dropped in form, and brahim doesn’t play. this leaves us looking predictable at times, and sees us rely too much on penalties or individual efforts to win games.

problem #3: ruthlessness
despite creating the most shots on target in the league, we scored 16 less goals than barca. we won by a margin of 1 goal 12 times this season, which showes very clearly that our defense won us the league.

POTS: casemiro 
he leads the way in all defensive stats. he is a rock at the back. he is fantastic, single handedly keeping elite attackers out. best CDM on planet earth no debate about it.

POTS runner-up: benzema 
what can you say about this guy. most goals and most assists, hard working, beautiful linkup. only misses out to casemiro because our defense won us the league, and his massive drop in form january-march. beast post-lockdown, top 5 itw easily.

the best captain imaginable. 11 goals, 5 from open play, multiple game winners, fantastic distribution. words aren’t enough to describe how good he is, 34 and looking as good as ever. CAPII

from best to worst:

1. odriozola
lost us our first game (mallorca away) absolutely average in all others. poor. didn’t step up at all. he is at an age where he needs to show his worth but unfortunately this season was not it for him.

just not worth the money. outperformed by vinicius in basically all metrics,he disrespected the club by showing up overweight, and hasn’t seemed fit all year. unlucky with ankle injuries, but €128M for a 29 year old and we got more from asensio, who cost 100x less.

3. jovic
not given enough time to play, but looks sluggish and limited at times. quite a few annoyances off the field too, but his stats look good. with age on his side unlike hazard, if he can convince zidane and get through injuries, we can all see he will be amazing.

players we should use more:
1. brahim diaz deserves so much more game time
2. vinicius has proven he is good enough to be a starter, given his end product goes up
3. jovic needs to be given more chances
4. rodrygo given bale min
5. ferland mendy should be the full time starter.

to summarize:
we are the league winners, deservedly so. good attack, amazing defense. this summer we will clear the squad more, and get prepared to spend big next summer. we play good football but probably won’t pass city. either way, future is excited. HALA MADRIDDD
