one of the best things i did for my mental health during covid was take social media off my phone & get a super old shitty used laptop that's -only- for online, where the rule is only use this laptop to read/post with an intention i established beforehand. never passively scroll!
twitter is super addictive if u get a headrush of serotonin and adrenaline from reading and making posts. if ur like me you HAVE to accept & 'own' how addicted you are to ephemeral content & shallow attention & commit to harm reduction structures around it, otherwise you'll binge
it sounds expensive to shell out a couple hundo on a old used device that you specifically designate for intentional social media use on wifi, but for me its paid for itself at least 10-15 times over in ability to honor the priorities that otherwise get killed by online addiction
i miss posting photos and videos of my pets and selfies in golden hour lighting but i had to stop. even stuff as basic as that fires up the cocaine-rat parts of my brain that exclusively will make my only itch-relief be in flipping -everything- into content and driving engagement
