Fulham’s FPL Assets

Following Fulham’s promotion by beating Brentford in extra time of the play-off final, here’s a thread I’ve put together on their assets worth looking at.

Typically employing the 4-2-3-1 formation, Fulham’s goal involvements are spread fairly evenly amongst their midfield. This means they have a wealth of low-mid priced MID assets to consider.

Fulham’s midfield has been rotated throughout the season, with captain, Cairney, the only one with more than 33 starts. Reid and Onomah would start more games, if neither Reed nor Arter remained at FUL after their loans at the club. However, FUL could sign them both permanently.

In order of FPL appeal:
1. Mitrovic ST
2. Cavaleiro LW / RW
3. Cairney CM
4. Reid CAM / LW
5. Onomah CAM
6. Knockaert RW
7. Joe Bryan LB

You may have noticed that I haven’t included Kamara (25 - RW/ST) or Kebano (28 - RW/LW), both of which started the play-off final. In fact, Kebano started all 3 of Fulham’s play-off games. However, he only started 11% of games all season, and Kamara only started 17%.

They both played in the play-offs because of injuries to FUL’s regular starters, Mitrovic (ST) and Cavaleiro (LW/RW). Kamara filled in at ST in the final, and Kebano started all three play-off games on the wing. Neither are expected to be regular starters in the PL next season.

I have included 5 MIDs in this thread: two central midfielders, two wingers, and one who’s played in both positions. Fulham are likely to only play 4 of these players each game. It’s yet to be known whether they’ll stick with a regular starting line-up, or rotate.

Alexsandar Mitrovic FWD FUL
Predicted price: £6.5m

Mitrovic (25) is the top goalscorer and 3rd for SpG in the Championship. He also has the best mins/goal ratio in the league. As Fulham’s target-man, Mitrovic been involved in over 40% of their goals. Unfortunately, he missed out in the play-offs with a hamstring injury.

Ivan Cavaleiro MID FUL
Predicted price: £6.0m
Playing position: LW / RW
Appearances: 43
6 goals 7 assists
Per game: 1.0 shots 1.5 KPs

Cavaleiro (26) has created the 5th most BCs in the Championship this season. At Fulham, no one has assisted more than him, and only Cairney has a higher KPpG. Cavaleiro is also their joint 3rd top scorer. Unfortunately, he missed out on the play-offs with a thigh injury.

Tom Cairney MID FUL
Predicted price: £6.0m
Playing position: CM / CAM
Appearances: 39

Per game: 0.8 shots 1.8 KPs

Cairney (29) is Fulham’s club captain, playing as the more attacking of the two CMs, behind Onomah. He started 83% of their games, only missing out due to injury/illness. At Fulham, only Mitrovic has scored more goals, and no one has a higher KPpG than Cairney.

Bobby Reid MID FUL

Reid (27) has played most of the season at CAM for Fulham, due to Onomah’s injuries. However, he has also played on the LW for many games, and filled in at ST in the Play-Off Semi-Finals due to Mitrovic’s injury. At Fulham, only Mitrovic and Knockaert have a higher SpG than Reid.

Josh Onomah MID FUL

Onomah (23) has only started 20Gs this season due to fitness/injury. After knee surgery, Onomah came off the bench in his first 3 games back, with 1 & 1 in 65mins. He started each of the final 5, and the 3 play-off games, with 2 & 1, proving he’s become a regular starter.

Anthony Knockaert MID FUL
Predicted price: £5.5m
Playing position: RW
Appearances: 42
3 goals 4 assists
Per game: 1.3 shots 1.4 KPs

Knockaert (28) has recently signed a permanent deal at FUL, following a season loan from BHA. He’s created the 9th most BCs in the Championship this season. At Fulham, he has the 2nd highest SpG and the 3rd highest KPpG. He didn’t start the play-off final despite being fully fit.

Joe Bryan DEF FUL
Predicted price: £4.5m
Playing position: LB
Appearances: 43
1 goal 7 assists
Per game: 0.7 shots 1.1 KPs

After last night’s heroics, I felt I had to include their attacking LB, Bryan (26). However, when I delved into the statistics, I found that he really could be an option. At Fulham, no one has more assists than Bryan, and only Cavaleiro & Knockaert have created more big chances.

Mitrovic is likely to be in my FPL team. I won’t be considering any other Fulham assets for a potential double-up. Mitrovic is on penalties, which further increases his goal potential. He has also proven his ability in the PL, scoring 5 goals in the first 6 games of 2018/19.
