I'm not trying to dunk on your favorite boy when I say hockey players in the NHL bubble should be openly talking about anti-racism in their workplace. I love these idiots too, but I'm Black and can't sit by quietly while they...sit by quietly.
I truly do not understand defending a person's ignorance and silence because they *checks notes* play a sport?? Those statements back in June about the importance of Black lives were so nice!! What tangible anti-racism work is your favorite hockey boy doing now?
Miss me with this provisional support for Black lives that depends on us keeping white folks comfortable. How about instead you sit with the fact that you feel the need to hurry up and defend a person/team's inaction instead of holding them and yourself accountable?
We hold hockey accountable because we love it and want to see it grow. We hold our country accountable because we love it and want to see it grow. No one truly benefits from blind allegiance.
If you follow #BGHC and believe #hockeyisforeveryone, please take some time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you're just here cause you heard about us on tv or white guilt is forcing you to follow Black hockey accts, please go, you're actively hurting the cause.
Anyways, listen to Black women, hire Black women, protect Black women. http://www.blackgirlhockeyclub.org/donate/bghcfam
