HHHHHHHH

Yeah, I guess I'll still have to conform to the fact I'm not over with TPN's ending yet. Over and over I keep finding points to analyze.

And this time, I thought smth that only reinforces my overall dissatisfaction.
Just a disclaimer that this is mostly personal FEELINGS tbh, so I'm not writing this to say that this is indeed the correct interpretation. Actually, I wanna know from you guys as well, because I do want to be wrong, I do want to feel happy with this ed.
But I just can't. And yep, it's Emma again.

This time I'm not saying it's because her family suffered instead of her yada yada because, after writing my fic, I do have to disagree with that. Emma DID suffer with her memory loss, and she's still gonna suffer a bit post canon too.
My complaint isn't about this anymore.

It's about her whole character and the way the story protrayed her near the ed.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love Emma. She's my 2nd fave. I agree with her point of view. Her empathy towards everyone is outstanding.

But gosh what happened?
Emma basically forced her point of view on everyone by lying and manipulating them.

I read a fic that explored Emma's cruelty, and I disagreed with it at first. But honestly, I understand it more and more?

Cause think about this single fact: Emma didn't need to make a promise.
Technically, she didn't need to. Musica's reign was estabilished. They were granted free access to the human world. And, even if there were risks with leaving the human world portal open, Emma could still trust Musica on that AND keep in touch with her.

There was another way.
And yet, because she cared about both sides and believed that was the best option for her family's safety, she didn't let them have a say on the matter. She lied and acted kinda hypocritical to Norman.

She acted exactly like him.
And honestly that's such a terrible downgrade to her character? But that's not the only problem. If Shirai wanted to portray a character downfall, that's perfectly okay.

But the narrative put itself on her side all the time and made everything work out on her way.
Those are 2 separate problems, obviously, but I believe the conjuction of these two made ne so dissatisfied.

Emma acted extremely selfishly here. But that's not the only problem.
Emma considered her "sacrifice" as settling her selfish requests. Like a price for her selfish wishes. And that's where we go back to the same problem I talked before. And, might I add smth else:

Emma's "sacrifice" is selfish on its own.
I think about it often. Had she not considered how hurt her family must be? How desperate would they feel in finding her? How much guilt or regret they would feel for not realizing her lies?

Didn't she think about any of this??
But in canon she says "I know they'll be angry, but this is the best way", for humans and demons alike.

"Best way" sounds familiar no?

But then what was the purpose of her talk with Norman? What was the purpose of the message "sharing your burdens with everyone is the right"?
Emma didn't do any of that. She considered what was the best option for everyone. Upon acting on her selflessness towards both her family and the demons, she ended up acting selfishly towards them and disregarding how they feel.

This is such a weird character change.
Was Emma not believing in what she said herself?

The fact that she could have just gone to the human world with hem, alongside them, without the need of a promise is what kills me inside.
It's almost as if she put the demons and overall well-being about her fam's and hers. Emma was okay with sacrificing herself but she did not realize she was bringig her family down alongside it.

Was she putting their worries above hers at all?

But actually, it's just this:
She underestimated the importance that she had for them.

What a weird character arc. What a weird ending. So much doesn't fit, so much feels incomplete. It's as if Emma's character doesn't go anywhere, neither positive or negative.
In the end I do feel like her character was ruined by its confusion. Alongside the ending and my overall experience with it.

But let me know what you think! Again, this is based on personal opinion, I'm not affirming anything that I think is true here!

Another thing: if by some
reason you get really angry reading this and think I'm an Emma hater, please refrain yourself from replying.

Like I said before, she's my sec fave and because I like her sm that I feel so dissatisfied with what was done to her character arc.

Anyway sorry in advance ayshshshs
Auahsh and like, the fact that she moved on SO FAST from her post memory loss pain undermines her "sacrifice" so much auahsh

There's nothing wrong with moving on of course, but considering the "purpose" of the reward it feels, so, weird x,D

Let's not dig into that again aushsh
