Beirut is shaken to its core.

We know from @RedCrossLebanon over 100 people have died and 4,000 injured.

So many more remain missing.

This is what we’re seeing on the ground. 👇
Several hospitals were damaged and those still working were overwhelmed with patients, with the wounded being triaged in car parks.

We’ve distributed emergency medical supplies to 12 hospitals in and around Beirut.

We will continue to support as needed.
The destruction of Beirut’s port may make it very difficult to import goods.

This could be devastating for people in Lebanon.

It will also affect humanitarian aid, including our relief work in Lebanon and neighbouring Syria.
Beirut will continue to feel the aftershock of the explosion long after the initial blast.
After months of a spiraling economic crisis and battling the coronavirus pandemic, Lebanon was already in a fragile state.

Businesses that were already on life-support are destroyed.
The health system was already struggling to respond to the mounting health needs. Now it is totally overwhelmed.

People’s homes are shattered and with an already tightened economy, families will struggle to repair their homes and provide food for their families.
We are deeply saddened and shocked at the loss of life. Our thoughts go to the families of the victims and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

Lebanon can not be left to deal with this alone.
