1/ A #WildlifeWednesday about Habitat!

<1% of SE prairie remains, yet 40% of SE plants only occur in these areas providing critical pollinator and wildlife habitat. @UGAWarnell #Outreach is working with @BotGardenGA #UGAWildlifeCoop & @GeorgiaPower to map Piedmont prairie in GA.
2/ Piedmont Prairie exists from AL to NJ; in GA its found between the Blue Ridge Mtns and Coastal Plain and is among the most diverse sites in the state. In GA, 14 obligate plant species are found here providing food and shelter for range of species including Monarch Butterflies.
3/ We are working to identify Piedmont Prairie among powerline Right-of-Ways. ROWs provide great opportunities for Piedmont prairie conservation due to their preservation in early successional habitat and their broad ranging connectivity.
