The 2019/2020 Shot Stoppers a thread:-
Every great team is built on a strong defense, and while often under-appreciated, it's the goalkeepers who have a huge part to play in that. This was another season in which the Brazilian pairing of Allison and Ederson impressed for the
most part , with the latter having a couple of dodgy moments himself. Bernd Leno has once again proven that he is probably the most under-appreciated keeper of the lot by being exceptionally consistent and pulling off some incredible stops for Arsenal before his unfortunate
injury this season. The biggest positives of the season however, have been the English duo of Nick Pope(15 clean sheets) and Dean Henderson(13 clean sheets) of Burnley and Sheffield United respectively, with both putting in strong performances throughout the season.
This has increased the pressure on Jordan Pickford’s place in the England starting XI as Gareth Southgate has a good problem to sort out before the Euros’ next year. Another massive disappointment has been one of the biggest talking points in the second half of the season, which
is David De Gea’s fall from grace. The Spaniard, who has put in dodgy performances throughout the season, looks to be suffering from a lack of confidence and looks to be a far cry from the player he used to be. He will surely be looking over his shoulder at Henderson next season,
as pressure continues to mount on his head from the media and fans alike.
