1. BEETROOT: Beetroot are rich in nitrates, which helps relax blood vessels, reduce blood pressure, and optimize oxygen uptake.
2. APPLE: Research shows regular apple intake is associated with a slower decline in lung function in ex-smokers. Some other health benefits are also included.
3. PUMPKIN: Pumpkin is rich in carotenoids, including beta carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin, all of which have powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Beta-carotene is particularly associated w/better lung function.
4. TURMERIC: Turmeric has potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredients known as Curcumin, especially beneficial for supporting lung function.
5. TOMATO: Tomato is the richest dietary sources of lycopene, a carotenoid antioxidant that has been associated with improved lung health.
6. GREEN TEA: Green tea contains ECGC, a very powerful antioxidant that boasts antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to inhibit fibrosis or scarring of tissues in lungs.

9. WALNUTS: Walnuts are a vegetarian source of omega-3 fatty acids. Eating regular servings of walnuts — about one handful daily — may help fight asthma and other respiratory ailments according to the “Journal of the American College of Nutrition.”
