Man refuses to wear a mask & is asked to leave store. Man steals cigars & shoots store clerk. Police show up at his house *the next day.* Man fires assault rifle at police setting off a shootout. He gets shot, gets first aid, and is arrested *alive.*
Story is essentially man is having hard time dealing with the pandemic, job loss & losing custody of his child. Now call me cynical...a LOT of folks are having a really hard time, & yet we're not going all Yosemite Sam
Sure, perhaps he was at his mental health breaking point (which raises other issues about firearms access), but you mean to tell me that after all of that drama, he's alive? While BIPOC folks are *6x* more likely to be killed by police? S.I.X TIMES.
I wish no one dead, to be clear, but this explanation that he isn't taking the pandemic well feels like some apologist bs if I ever heard it.

When we talk about over-policing & excessive force--this is the kind of case we are comparing BIPOC policing experiences to.
