I went to public schools during a time when NOT ONE of my teachers was political. We saluted the flag every morning. We performed religious plays at Eastet and Christmas time. There were 2 genders. We learned real math and American history.
Thank God I was born back then.

Oh, and at 13, I would get up at 4am six days a week to do my paper route that covered about 3 miles of streets. It was easy with a bike, not so much during New England winters.
In 10th grade, they taught consumer math... how to balance your checkbook, figure out interest on a loan, etc.
