Pre-transfers Premier League Prediction thread - 2020/21 campaign.
20. Fulham. I don’t feel like they have the quality required to compete with the likes of even the mid table clubs. They’re going straight back down unless they make some quality signings.
19. Crystal Palace. If their form at the end of the season is anything to go by, combined with the increasing likelihood of Zaha leaving, I just can’t see them retaining Premier League status next season.
18. Brighton. Was a toss up between them and Villa for the drop, but a couple of injuries to Dunk and Maupay and they don’t stand a chance. This could change if they recruit wisely.
17. Aston Villa. Another shaky season for them. Don’t see them finishing higher than 17th if Grealish leaves. They could go down if he leaves or even higher than this if Grealish stays.
16. West Brom. Bilic is back in the Premier League and should guide his talented West Brom side to safety. They’re not the Tony Pulis team that nobody missed upon relegation anymore.
15. West Ham United. They’re in for another disappointing season but they’ll retain their place with relative comfort earning points here and there. Take 15th lads.
14. Leeds United. They’ll survive comfortably in their first season, with Bielsa’s football earning them favourable results across the country. They’ll finish higher the season after if Bielsa stays around.
13. Newcastle. I think Joelinton will finally pick up form and earn Newcastle vital points in the middle of the season to keep them up. Dubravka will also keep vital goals out ending in their safety with a few games to go.
12. Sheffield United. I don’t believe they’ll impress quite as much as last season, but they have a formula and they will stick to it. Teams may learn how to play against them towards the tail end and they’ll end up in mid-table.
11. Southampton. Same as last season. Ings will carry them and they’ll get mid table. Could finish higher if they get a better keeper.
10. Burnley. Does this team ever change? Another decent season for Dyche’s boys in claret. Nick Pope will shine again next season.
9. Everton. Calvert-Lewin will continue to improve with Andre Gomes pulling all the strings. One more signing in defence and this team really can challenge the European spots.
8. Wolves. Literally any of the next 4 teams could finish here but I’m going off who would win in a head to head. After such a long season they will be drained and not able to continue previous form.
7. Arsenal. The Gunners still have serious defensive problems and an injury to Aubameyang spells disaster for their season. They’ll clinch a European spot but they could easily lose it to Everton or Wolves.
6. Leicester City. This will be the year that a 34 year old Vardy will begin to decline. Unless they can train up an adequate replacement that isn’t Iheanacho they’ll struggle for goals, especially in the system that they play in - heavily reliant on Vardy getting in behind.
5. Tottenham. Even under Mourinho they are a shadow of themselves from 4 years ago. They could really struggle at the back and don’t stand a chance of competing for the title.
4. Manchester United. One of the most overhyped teams, largely due to the impact of Bruno Fernandes. If he gets injured it’s back to the United of the start of the season. That could change with the arrival of Sancho however.
3. Chelsea. One of three teams to make a title push, Chelsea’s attack is something else, but they will be let down yet again by their leaky defence, costing them valuable points against teams like Sheffield United and Burnley.
2. Manchester City. It’ll be a lot closer this year than last year, but I just cannot see Liverpool dropping off with Klopp at the helm. It’ll go down to the last 2 or 3 games but with a gruelling Champions League campaign they’ll struggle for form at the start of the season.
1. Liverpool. A couple of signings that provide depth and Liverpool are looking at a second title in as many years. Robertson and Trent will only improve, with Salah, Mane and Firmino all at the peak of their powers. They’ll equal Man United’s 20 leagues this season.
