As you can see, Eren started off as an optimistic kid that always dreams about how will the outside world looks like. He started like every kid like any normal kid that is naive and doesn’t really know what’s the other side of the world looked like.
As he grows older, he becomes stronger facing the titans, he inherited the attack titan without knowing it. He has passion to fight for humanity and everyone around him.
As he learns the truth, you get to see more of him slowly losing himself. Eren was slowly turning into what he fears the most.
As he looks into the truth, he’s turning himself more into his fate. He’s letting himself eat the destiny he has when in fact he can change it all throughout.
The irony of his character is how is much he devotes himself to freedom when in fact he’s the one that is locked up by his own fate and regrets. Eren reflects the balance of good and evil, he’s like any human that would do anything for their own freedom and lives.
He acts so tough when in fact, Eren is the one suffering the most. The pain and regrets he hold is unbearable. The sin he made is unforgivable. He is truly a caged man to his own path.
You see, he knows what he was doing. He knew how his actions would absolutely affect on everyone. He knew how much weight of mistakes he holds. He is selfish and selfless at the same time. You know he just wanted to make eldians live but genocide has always been wrong.
As every chapter goes on, isayama makes his in depth character more understandable and how much realistic he was written to reflect human nature.
