Semua sultan yang menandatangani surat penubuhan Malayan Union ialah pengkhianat bangsa Melayu. Why? They knew MU provide a very lax citizenship opportunity, reduce their powers, and threaten the Malays’ position. But they still signed it, because they are fearful for themselves. https://twitter.com/rmhaseui/status/1290616481479237635
Johor dan Selangor supported it without a fuss. Other sultans negotiated and Kedah even went into a heated debate with MacMichael, but in the end they still signed it, because they care more about their positions than protecting the ordinary Malays.
Imagine if they stood firm and rather than sign it, accepted abdication. That is solidarity. But they didnt. Kedah even signed after being reassured his position as sultan will be guaranteed. So much for being the defender of the Malays but selling our sovereignty willy-nilly.
What can we learn from this; MU can only take shape if the sultans signed the treaty. Because unless they signed it, they would be removed. So they signed it. Yes, they negotiated, they offered advice, but they knew where we are heading into.
Some of you might say its more complicated than that; no its not. It really isnt. Johor was an outright traitor because he didnt believe Malays are ready for self governance, dua kali dia khianat bangsa sendiri; tandatangan MU dan cuba gagalkan Misi Kemerdekaan di London.
Honestly what would happen to these people if the Malays finally realised its okay not to have monarchs to safeguard our privilege.
They should be really thankful for the ordinary Malays. The Malays can do without sultan, but sultan needed people to lorded over.
