Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris!! not to India, not to Pakistan. the plebiscite should have happened seven decades ago. we need to talk about kunan-poshpora : the fact that Kashmir (Muslim) women were mass raped by the indian ar*y & they're still being murdered on the daily

whether or not Kashmir wants to be part of a country (ANY country) is a decision THEY make: as defenders of human rights & as mainland indian activists our duty is to agitate for SELF DETERMINATION of Kashmiris & continue protesting against the communication lockdown +

+ violation of human rights happening there along with mass incarceration & the literal transformation of Kashmir into a prison state.

As for the trans act - it takes away the right to self determination of gender identity from trans folks, it dehumanises trans individuals by stating they are required to essentially strip in front of district magistrate in order for this cis person to judge whether or not -

- they're "truly trans". It forces trans individuals to continue residing in natal households & families that are often the most consistent sources of violence against them. rehabilitation facilities essentially mean incarcerating trans individuals. there's also a HORRIBLE-

- definition of who a trans individual is. the act conflates intersex identities with trans identities & essentially erases enby folks from existence. punishment for sexual harrassment is FAR less for a trans woman than it is for a cis woman - a clear statement on cis ideas-

- of who a "real" woman is and who isn't.
this simply scratches at the surface. It's a deeply problematic document that the trans community ACROSS the country has been protesting against for a v, v, v long time.
