*strongly recommend you do a quick read up about The real Malcolm X and the cultural context of the times before catching that one. And I recommend you read up even if you don’t want to catch the film.
*Read up about Virginia Woolf if you don’t know of her before watching The Hours. The film is an anthology of three stories. Woolf’s, a representation of a character from a book she wrote, and a reader reading the book. Set in 3 different time periods.
*Warning: These aren’t action films. These are violent films. Films that objectively explore the nature of gratification through violence. The absence of a moral fibre in such people. Highly intriguing films. But can be very provocative and disturbing if you can’t stomach them.
*If you have the appetite for a slow burn mind*%#^ like Apocalypse Now... I strongly recommend you watch the ‘Redux’ version, Coppola’s extended cut. An absolute masterpiece.
As a cinephile, they probably wouldn’t make it into my all time top 50. But if I could take only 2 films with me before I get marooned on a island... #Paddington 1 & 2 would be my picks... without the slightest hesitation

*In case you’re wondering, 300 didn’t work for me all that much. But absolutely loved ‘Rise of an empire.’ Better to watch it after watching the first film. ROAE starts out as a prequel.. starts running parallel to the events of 300 halfway through.. and by the climax is a sequel
*Am talking about the 1994 version of Angels in outfield (Starring the adorable Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a child actor)... not the 1951 version.
