Imo, this is a deliberate attempt to have less Scottish students attend university (for free) next year, so there’s more space for fee paying students. Whereas kids from state schools with good grades tend to stay in Scotland and apply to the best uni’s - but that’s where all the fee paying American/English students also want to go. If all the state school kids go to uni this year then less fee payers can come.(2/3)

Problem solved if you just give all the state school kids lower grades so they can’t get in. (3/3)
