Douki thread ~
That's right my friends it's time we talk about the newest member of Suzuki Gun and everyone's favourite lucha gremlin Douki because I think he's neat and he deserves way more love
As I did with El desperado we won't be touching on any times he's wrestled under another name in this thread, there also won't be any unmasked photos. We respect our masked men around these parts and their commitment to a gimmick
We did speak very briefly about him in the despy thread ( https://twitter.com/eldespahippo/status/1281970541902082052 ) but I don't think we truly got to go into enough detail finding info on Douki is harder than it was with his brother so I suspect this might take a little while. Now let's start with the basics
Douki is a Japanese born Luchador, his birthdays february 24th and he's most known for his very stylish and unique half mask. He debuted around 2008 and he currently works for NJPW where he is a member of Suzuki Gun. He's El Desperados 'brother' and Taichis mentee
So we know Douki appears in New Japan in the BOSJ 2019 to replace Despy after Despy broke his jaw in a death match he took to avenge Douki but if thats when he debuted then exactly where was Sweet Douki before all that? The answer.....Mexico
The story goes that at ages 17/18 (a lot of info for Douki has conflicting reports so bare with me) Douki, who was in love with the Lucha Libre style moved himself across the world alone to Mexico so he could learn to be a Luchador
(His birthdays december 24th not february as listed above again...conflicting reports) He trained under Ultimo Dragon and Jorge Rivera in Toryumon Gym. It's also around this time he met Taichi (who says he taught Douki everything this is.....probably not true)
Now because this isn't about Taichi we're just going to pop him in a box for now. So Douki Trains and makes his debut in December of (08/09/10) under a different name and he wrestles for around a year or so before becoming Douki as we know him now.
If I were to take a guess he arrives in mexico in 08 at 17, debuts in Dec 09 at 18/19, wrestles for around a year (2010) and rebrands at Douki in 2011. It's noted in an interview he did with El Desperado for NJPW that Despy never saw him wrestle under his previous gimmick
El Desperado surfaces in Mexico early 2012. Now unlike my previous despy thread I haven't got clear cut feuds or rivalries to break things into what I do have however is every Douki clip I could dig up. So from earliest to latest we're going to go through them and discuss
We're going to start in 2012, first with a look at how Douki's first (or almost first) mask looked, you can see that it's a little bit more plain that the Douki masks of today. A simple black base with blue accents that ties in the back. Douki posted a photo of it recently
I found a match from 2012 (it breaks in the middle for interviews and I've marked the start point) it's from around April 2012 which means it's a pretty early example of douki it's a 6 man tag match and while his in ring time is short you get a feel for
the style in which he's trained and an idea of his general look. The match takes place for IWRG who had a relationship with Toryumon Mexico where Douki trained, he wrestled many times for them until around 2018
He're another one from 2012 this time from June where douki tags with what my be a familiar face to some a tiny baby Eita, Douki would commonly tag with any foreigners but especially with those also from japan. This is another 6 man tag match
so again you don't get a lot of Douki but you do get a good idea and glimpse into how he would shape up as a wrestler. You see how Douki fits into the Lucha Libre style and how he works with the pace of the match
you can also see during this match a glimpse at Douki doing a very familiar looking move into a split (14:20)

He may not have the aggression of NJPW Douki but you can see the building blocks of it in everything he does.
We’re pausing very briefly to mention that around about this time Douki had a jacket that matched his mask and it was truly amazing (please bring it back)
Our next two clips from 2012 are both fan cams from the same tournament show. The first of which involves a very young Sammy Guevara (tip avoid the youtube comments for your own sanity)
I'm not going to over explain ever match after all I have...almost 0 in-ring knowledge but I do think it's worth watching them to see how smooth his in-ring work and transitions are, especially as a starting block Douki at this point had been wrestling around 2 maybe 3 years
You do get another little bit of Douki hitting the splits in this match, he does it twice and quite a good look at just how hard the Mexican rings typically are. It's short but it's definitely worth a watch to get a grasp of Doukis over all style
Lets talk now about the 2nd match from that tournament also known as 'that time Douki entered to Yeah by Usher' this match is a bit of a slower pace to the last one but still give you a pretty good idea of Douki's style, it's again short and fan filmed
but if you're looking to find out how his in-ring talents have progressed or figure out more about where he began these are good matches to watch.
We're going to take a small break away from match recs to talk about a shirt that appeared in one of those last two clips (and as Doukis name for them as well). The original team Douki was in Los Japone(ses) del Ma(r)l
Los Japoneses del Mal or Los Japones del Marl or Los Japones Del Mal (reports conflict and y'know what we'll just list all the options) was a stable made up of Douki, Eita and Daisuke Hanaoka.
Los Japoneses del Mal meaning The Japanese of Evil took their name from the infamous Mexican stable Los Perros Del Mal (The Dogs of Evil), Los Perros Del Mal are worth a read up on if you have the time but other than Eita being a full member Los Perros Del Mal
and Los Japoneses del Mal don't seem to cross over much (at least from what I could find), Los Japoneses del Mal did work a few matches for Perros del Mal Producciones, the promotion ran by some of the Perros Del Mal members
At the moment please enjoy the only promo from Los Japoneses Del Mal I could find

Douki frequently tags with his stable mates from about 2012 on, I'm not sure Los Japoneses Del Mal are an active stable now but who knows maybe they'll reappear someday
Okay so back to the main bulk of this thread and we'll go with a highlight video of the previously mentioned Los Japoneses Del Mal in tag team action, it's 2 minutes in total but still a good quick watch (those bumps in that ring sounded deadly)
