I'm not sure people understand how enormous of an upset it is for @CoriBush to defeat Lacy Clay.

She's a nurse who's never held elective office. She doesn't know rich people she can call for big checks. She didn't moderate her stances to accommodate the status quo.

It's huge.
I worked for Cori in 2018 because she inspired me. It was devastating to watch up close how stacked the system was against her. But, she was relentless.

This cycle her amazing team, @justicedems, @sunrisemvmt and others help put her over the top. She's a force of nature.
Her victory is a testament to the growing power of @justicedems and the entire progressive wing of the party.

@alexandrasiera, @_waleedshahid and the JD crew keep getting better. @HelenBrosnan and @fshakir ran top-notch IEs.

Working people are getting organized.
It should be noted that @CoriBush never gave up when so many others told her it was impossible.

And @BernieSanders never gave up on her either. He endorsed early, raised real funds, and made her a national surrogate.

She won without the endorsement of many progressive groups.
Lots of people get called an "activist" because they showed up at a few marches.

@CoriBush was an authentic leader of the movement in Ferguson. I saw her get tear gassed. I saw her lead protesters to determine their strategy and keep people safe.

Now she's going to Congress.
Cori is a survivor of domestic abuse and multiple incidents of sexual assault.

She faced intimidation and threats from Clay's henchmen.

She withstood police violence and targeting of protesters and derision from the political establishment.

And now she's going to Congress.
For the left, this upset is monumental.

The establishment can’t write this off as an issue of demographic mismatch, or an NYC thing, or they didn’t see us coming.

Justice Democrats and the left can replace Corporate Democrats with working class heroes.

No one is safe.
In the midst of a pandemic ravaging black and brown communities, Democrats will have a nurse who’s a single mom join the congressional caucus.

Cori understands the struggle of working families because she lives it every day.
