It's been a long time since I've played Twitter DJ, and I'm come across several interesting things in the time I've been on hiatus.

Tonight, I will share them ITT.

Kyu Sakamoto of "Sukiyaki" fame, singing the Japanese version of "Calendar Girl," 1961:
(Tweets *will* be spaced out so you may have time to listen... not in rapid-fire order.)
Ray Stevens ("The Streak") singing an original composition, "A-B-C," 1966:

(Of note, the lick the sax plays was ABC Television's jingle in the early '60s.)
Lee Morse sings "Lawd, You Made The Night Too Long" from 1932... which would later be re-imagined as "Sam, You Made The Pants Too Long" by Vaughn Monroe with Ziggy Talent, and, later... Barbra Streisand.
"Sam, You Made The Pants Too Long" by Vaughn Monroe with Ziggy Talent, 1940:
And now, an early Hammond organ record from the original fat man... "Mamacita," by "Fats" Waller and his Rhythm, 1941:
Can you believe Monument records tried to pitch Dolly Parton as a Bubblegum Pop songbird in 1965 when the initially signed her?

They did, and here's "Don't Drop Out" from 1965:
Speaking of people you never expected to be swingin' in the swinging sixties... here's Toni Basil trying to "Breakway," 1966:
And now, one of my long-time faves from the country gentleman himself... Chet Atkins, with "Prancin' Filly," 1966:
In 2005, Japanese ska band "Skapontas" did a retro-inspired ska remake of a '60s hit "恋のメキシカンロック(Koino Mexican Rock)" featuring the original artist, Yukio Hashi:
Back in the '60s, Yukio Hashi had a flattop haircut so straight, you could set a sundial by it!

Hashi, however kitsch he may be in western society for his attempts at pseudo "rock," is best known as an Enka singer in his native Japan.

This is an excellent example of his work in that genre: "東京ギタ(Tokyo Guitar)," 1963:
...back to English.

This one comes from Oz... and it's a beaut!

Had this been picked up by a US record company, it could have been a major hit in the states back in '74, I'm sure.

"Man of the 20th Century," Kevin Johnson, 1974:
While we're in the '70s...

I have to give a nod to some Europeans, 'cause there were some interesting pop stars from that area and era.

First, from Finland... Matti Kalevi Siitonen, aka "Fredi" from Finland:

"Pump Pump," Fredi & Friends, 1976:
And now, direct from Czechoslovakia...

It's your (soon to be) favorite song by Karel Gott!

"Dívkám (Girls, Girls, Girls)," 1977:
Let's cross over to Germany for the next one, why not?

"Hey Hey Marlene," High Life, 1984
Going back down under for some Ozzie chunder-

Maureen Elkner - "Rack Off, Normie!" 1975:
1,145 followers... and not a one of you are paying attention.

Oh, well. Last one for this morn.

"Frozen Sunshine," Rick McClellan, 1968:
To find out what I said about Arpaio Oprah Lock Down House Dodgers Padres Cori Bush NBA Rainbow Road Mulan... don't look at this thread, 'cause it's nothing but weird music you've never heard... but might like?

(You won't like... move along.)
