So, as I prepare for the semester, I& #39;m watching a lot of tutorials about live streaming with the hardware/software tools I& #39;m using. And comprehension almost consistently just barely escapes me. I& #39;ve decided it& #39;s not me. It& #39;s the YouTubbies who are making the videos. 1/n
There is always something missing, some bit of knowledge that I don& #39;t have that is assumed or some step that is not mentioned that leads the demo, which I am recreating step by step at home on a different computer, to simply not work. 2/n
I& #39;m not so arrogant to think that I can& #39;t get things wrong. I& #39;m really good at being told what to do. For instance, I was working with chroma key, trying to subtract the green screen behind me and replace it with the video from the document cam as a virtual whiteboard. 3/n-1
My control panel with the ATEM mini had all the same settings as the TeleTuber. In his case, the image he had was his ATEM. So I could verify that everything was the same. The shot of his software window was the same too. And I selected the color to subtract out, no prob. 4/n^1
And then he does the subtract and replace, but doesn& #39;t show himself pressing the buttons or whatever. So he is there, with a big image of ATEM on screen and HE IS SITTING IN FRONT OF IT SO I CAN& #39;T SEE WHAT SETTING IS DIFFERENT. Madre de dios! 5/squirrel
Another problem, and this isn& #39;t the YouTubby& #39;s problem. I wanted to connect OBS (open broadcast software) to Zoom. To do this, you need to treat the output of OBS as a video camera, and this entails installing virtual cables, one for video and one for audio. 6/six
In the video, the fellow shows exactly where to go and what to install. I do that thing. But the version I download, even though it is the same as his, does not have an installer that I can run. WTF is that? It& #39;s just a zip. What the hell is that? 7/9
I think all the files I need are there, but I don& #39;t know where to drop them. Argh! Again it is the prior knowledge. OK. It& #39;s me. I& #39;m the weakest link here. But got dam, it is frustrating to follow instructions and not get the result because I haven& #39;t had one tiny thing explained.
