Hey, so, it’s really not hard — and in fact, it’s necessary — to welcome and be kind to your neighbors so that the police aren’t the first people you think to call when one is in crisis. https://twitter.com/zblay/status/1290680268207128577
If I hadn’t taken the time to get to know my neighbors, I wouldn’t know we have gals on the block with nursing and social work training. Please take the time to make cursory rounds when someone new moves in
Y’all don’t have to be best friends or even close, but it will help everyone on your block to have a text chain going to keep track. What it’ll do more than anything is form a network where you can reach out if something is off.
I met my husband through neighbors. I depend on my mom’s tenants to make sure she is OK (she’s elderly). Learning to live with and be kind to your neighbors is really valuable. If you live in a multiethnic neighborhood please take note of what engaging the police could mean
for all of your neighbors! ❤️❤️
