TW// Ableism, Various Disabilities.

There's been a lot of disability jokes going around, and people aren't aware of how they impact the disabled community.

Here's a thread of common jokes that you shouldn't use if you're not disabled:
Arthritis:

Making jokes about older people suffering from arthritis or having stiff joints/not being able to carry out an action can be offensive. It takes away from the fact that younger people can also get arthritis, and not every arthritis sufferer lacks capability.
Wheelchair users:

While some wheelchair users are bound. Jokes about wheelchair users not being able to run sets an implication that there aren't people who can walk short distances but require a wheelchair for longer journeys.
Heart attacks:

The joking phrase "you nearly gave me a heart attack" belittles sufferers of heart attacks to having a mild scare. Besides, there are better ways to word being scared out of surprise.
Mental health:

"I'm so depressed", "I'm so bipolar", "I'm anxious" etc. Depressed ≠ sad, bipolar ≠ angry/sad/happy, anxious ≠ nervous. Stop using adjectives of mental illness to describe your healthy feelings.
Autistic screeching:

The meltdowns and sensory overload of autistic individuals should not be used as a metaphor for upset. Pick up a thesaurus and broaden your vocabulary. Outrage, Anger, Yelling - here's some to start you off.
If you have more suggestions DM me! The purpose of this thread is to educate people of how "jokes" and "sayings" surrounding disability affect the disabled community negatively. I shall add if I see fit.
