My brother in law injured in Beirut was only there because the fucking home office denied his UK student visa despite him getting a full ride scholarship from LSE, basically on the basis he was Syrian (and couldn’t therefore say with 100% certainty where he would return to)

And when he was still missing and nobody even knew if he was alive, the UK embassy refused to put him on the list because he wasn’t British, even though his wife was. And said “this line is only for emergencies” before hanging up

The British state fully don’t think you are human if you are from that part of the world

Sorry, the university was UCL not LSE. And thank you for the well wishes, it sounds like he’s probably going to be OK. My thoughts are with all of the victims and their families
