The Amazing Spider-Man - Costume appreciation [THREAD]

I had lots of fun yesterday doing the two threads dedicated to the SM and SM2 suits, so I decided to continue with the suit worn by Andrew Garfield in 2012, a suit and I Spider-Man actor I particorally love!

Let's suit up. https://twitter.com/Movieboy99/status/1290442056926662658
I mean, do I even have to say anything? This is gorgeous to me! His colors, his textures and webs done in serigraphy, and for the first time on the big screen, the webs are actually black, and they look badass! I love how lean he looks, I love the sports shoes and lots more.
The way the light hits this suit it's magnificent to me.
Also, I remember how in this moment I had a super big smile in theater, it's exacly the kind of scenes I loved from the comics, it reminded me the many panels of Spider-Man speaking to someone thru a pubblic telephone.
"Ahem, you know, in the future, if you're gonna steal cars, don't dress like a car thief, man."
"My weakness, it's small knives!"
Sneezing and Bruce Lee-like poses.
Check out that finger gun pose. Someone just watched "Spider-Man 3".
Badass.
Holy Galactus, this looks so good.
Spider-Man can look pretty scary and I love it. This movies really dives in that "creepy" look that Ditko gave to him in the first stories.
"Who are you?"
"No one seems to grasp the concept of the mask."
Faster than a speeding bullet!
"He's a criminal that's who he is! A vigilante! A public menace!"
(Since J.K. Simmons came back to be the J. Jonah Jameson of the MCU, I'm now convinced that the Jameson of this universe also looked like that. J.K.'s Jameson is a multiversal constant).
"Boo"
Wall-Crawling is so visually cool.
Can we take a moment to appreciate that this is a stuntman? The "grounded" aspect of this movie is fantastic to me.
Hell yeah.
Spider-Man + night = a happy me!
Such a cool way to use his ability to stick to stuff, I'm always glad when they get creative with his powers, instead of just using them in a more unimaginative way, it shows how smart Peter is and how he uses the "tools" that he was given in the most clever way.
This is the flexible faceshell they used in some scenes. It doesn't look as good as the solid one to me, but it's still a very creative way togive him more Spider-Man look and having the liberty of letting him taking away his mask in one shot.
Andrew Garfield look so much like Peter Parker to me and beware, I'm probably gonna say it a lot in this thread.
"Symbolism" * ding *
(I love CinemaWins).
This mask is gorgeous. I love the golden lenses, they look so good with the black and the red.
Hey look, it's Peter Parker!
Details.
The gloves having both the red and the blue is such a great idea. I'm glad they took inspiration from good old Ben Reilly for that.
"Put...put it on! The mask! It's gonna make you strong."
Such a good moment on so many levels.
Lucky little kid.
"thwip!"
This moment is gold, that pose is gold, that suit is pure gold!
Garfield is such a great actor he can communicate emotions just staying silent completely covered in spandex.
"Spider-Man"
So good.
How the logo reflects the light is just perfect.
Iconic.
I love how the red light on the web shooters, such a cool visual.
The spider weaving his web.
"Thwip! thwip!"
So sinister and yet so cool looking.
The horror roots of Ditko coming back from the 60's.
I love the contrast between the cool Spider-Man moments and Peter just chillin out like a normal teen.
"Wake up, little spider"
This guy just straight up looks like a Peter Parker drawing coming to life, to me.
Such a good looking scene with a good looking suit.
I love this little moment.
Also, those are the stunt lenses, they are a little bit larger and clearer than the ones they usually show, to help the stuntmen move around with a clear vision.
They also look really good imo.
This shot.
My God.
Mark Webb and John Schwartzman did such a great job.
It's clear that they wanted to go thru the dark root with this film, that's what was hip at the time, and they made it work so well.
"My Spider-Sense is tingling!"
"I'm just gonna take a Spider-Nap for a minute"
Precious, and also very Peter Parker.
It's school time!
These two are such a great couple. Probably unmatched in every other CBM to me.
"Uh-oh! Someone's been a bad lizard!"
"And this is when I thought 'why not make another Spider-Nap?'"
It's cool to see how this suit is a little bit ruined after a while he has worn it for some time. It's also cool to see the part where the collar is detached from the mask.
"So no matter how many hits I take, I always find a way to come back."
Another look at the mask with a flexible faceshell.
Nice shot.
Andrew Garfield just screams "Peter Parker" to me. I miss him.
(I also love Tom in the role, but still, I miss Andrew).
Andrew on his way to act in scenes that will be cut.
Goddamnit.
Peter Parker.
Another peak at the great looking gloves.
Again: Peter Parker.
Spider-Man going home after hanging out with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
"Did you hear what...? Gwen! Gwen? You mother hubbard! Are you serious?!"
I think this is the most clear look that we get at the front logo.
Spider-Ass.
The suit looking gorgeous even when Spidey got his ass on the ground.
That mask, tho.
The calm before the storm.
Also Jameson's wet dream.
"How about 'no'?"
Let's take a look at the Spider-Back.
"Shazam!"
"He's extremely cool"
Peter Parker, again.
Here's a nice shot at the mask.
You can also see how it maintains a certain shape, thanks to the flexible shell.
Spider-Man putting his mask on will never not be cool.
This poor dude is so tired, but that doesn't stop him to look stellar.
"I always find a way, to come back".
The lenses almost look like the classic reflective white here. I still adore the golden look, but this is cool too.
Detail (kinda gross, but ok).
I'm not sure if this is the actual suit or the CGI model, that's how good the CGI is in this movie.
Still I'm fairly convinced that it's the real one, and it looks dope.
Spider-Gloves, Spider-Gloves, they look cool, when they have blue.
(And also when they are just red. They look cool in general, but they look EXTRA cool with some blue).
This is part of the reason why I love the mechanical web shooters and I will always prefer them to the organic one.
Spider-Man obviusly relies a lot on them, both in-universe and iconographilly, so when they don't work or get broken, you immeditaly know it's serious.
Also, another look at the cool red and blue glove.
Peter trying his best to not make Mr. Freeze-like puns.

(I'm obviously referring to the "Batman & Robin" one. TAS and well written comicbook Freeze would kill everyone who says "COOL PARTY!" to him, and with reason).
Garfield did great with the Spidey-Poses.
One last look at the super cool red and blue glove.
TASM Peter on his way to set the template for the final fight in "Marvel's Spider-Man".
And here it is. It looks like he's going fight Doc Ock in a super cool black armor.
Redemption! * ding *
Another good look at the Spider-Back.
Yeah, I feel ya, Pete.
And so it ends!
Thank you for swinging by, I hope you like this pics as much as I do.
