1. Lots of talk about (opposition) research last week so I'm re-upping this thread because a lot of people are getting it wrong.

I'm re-upping this thread because people keep talking about research related to Karen Bass being spread around in the past week. https://twitter.com/yashar/status/1093381319428530176
2. First, the reason it feels like all this negative stuff is coming out about Bass at a rapid pace is because it is! She hasn't really faced national scrutiny before...unlike Warren, Harris, and other folks who ran for president, Rep. Bass hasn't been a focus for reporters.
3. So now as she ascends to become a top tier candidate, reporters are interested in her past and how that may impact Biden's choice. Also, this is not a bad thing! This is going to happen at some point if she's picked, I'm not sure why people don't want it to happen earlier
4. Second, people keep saying "the Karen Bass oppo dump," you don't know that...you don't. Some of it may be, but only the reporters, their editors, and their sources (if they exist considering so much of it is based on publicly available information) know.
5. You know how much stuff I find by googling people or looking up their clips in Lexis Nexis? How much stuff I find on YouTube? The Scientology thing was just one google search away...I have that clip on my desktop and have for years!
6. As for the people speculating which campaign is sharing the research (if any)...you don't know that either. As a recipient of tips and in the past a disseminator of them, you would be stunned at where some of this stuff comes from.
