Ooof. BNA is... not handling this racism allegory very well in its later half.
I like Studio Trigger's stuff enough to say they've got a stupendous visual style but they never really land the more complex themes they try to tackle for my tastes.

Promare benefitted from being a bit blasé with its story. Even Imaishi flat-out said IT AINT THAT DEEP.
I havent finished BNA yet but both it and Promare have the same problem: using racism/xenophobia as a plot device while ALSO stating the oppressed minority groups have violent/savage outbursts that put *regular people* in danger, justifying the oppressor's behavior.
Finished BNA. It's still a fun show but I flinch when media says "minorities are just genetically violent but can be cured through medical/supernatural means".

BNA states this mindset is wrong but STILL makes the violent nature and its cure/solution a core part of the story.
BNA shares alot of similarities with another cute animal cartoon. Both attach themselves to a racial allegory but also insert a "it's their genes that's the problem" problem w/o admitting how wrong and stupid that is while STILL making a CURE to SOLVE the violent tendencies.
And I dont think ADDRESSING the belief that minorities are just biologically savage is bad. Real people in real life believe it (they are called Racists).

But it's kind of stupid to "cure" minorities instead of bucking that belief. If characters are people, let them be people.
