Thread: Twitter must have a terrible effect on the dating world. One can see toxic elements of both sexes at a disproportionately higher rate, thus providing a point of reference which will cause distrust of the opposite sex.
If women see swarms of horny men acting like pigs, then the availability heuristic will prompt women to view all men as such. This already happens because antisocial men (i.e, those less affected by social consequences) approach women at a disproportionately higher rate.
Furthermore, if men see women blast guys on Twitter constantly, a distrust of women will form. If men see a disproportionately higher rate of toxic women, they will see women as generally toxic.
Anonymity and the possibility of an easily viral tweet promote apathy towards thr opposite sex. Blasting a disloyal male or female may gain easy likes, but it provides an unhealthy impression of the dating world.
A self defeating cycle forms when one sex views the opposite as toxic and acts in kind, promoting the opposite sex to think act and accordingly. No one wins.
The gist of this thread is to promote cross sex empathy. Twitter is not an accurate reflection of how men and women interact. It showcases and perpetuates the worst in all of us.
