Ok Unpopular TUA Opinion is that Luther is good, actually. Yes he does stupid shit and the thing with Allison is weird but like y’all need to recognize thay is a manifestation of Reginald’s abuse and the pressure that was put on him to be team leader

You don’t get to talk about how all the other children were abused and simultaneously not acknowledge Luther’s abuse. And like it’s funny to make moon jokes but he was literally isolated for YEARS... just bc his dad was tired of dealing with him.

And yes he fucked up big time with the Vanya thing but he holds himself accountable for that. It was him trying to (what he thought was) the right thing and fucking up. I’m not saying that what he did was good— but it WAS a manifestation of his upbringing/abuse...

... and again he thought he was doing the right thing. He’s in a situation where someone he cares about has been hurt (by someone else he cares about), and he has been raised to be responsible for everyone and to be the hero from like. Infancy. and was CEMENTED by his being No. 1

But like again he holds himself responsible for it! In season two he literally apologizes and tries to grow as a person!

It’s also important to note that unlike the other siblings he never really got a chance to get away from his abusive household (until S2) and develop as his own person. Even on the moon he was only really ever in contact w/ Reggie. Even on the moon he was in the Umbrella Academy.

And this isn’t me saying you have to like him; I get why people don’t and that’s fair! But like idk I feel like people don’t even try to think about Luther and how fucked up his upbringing was.

Also re the Allison thing: it’s nasty and I hate it but also imo it’s a manifestation of his (and Allison’s) being isolated from the outside world/other people their age. Which like it’s still gross DONT get me wrong but like can we PLEASE acknowledge that factor?

But I think his development was good! I’m proud of him for starting to work through his shit! And he’s genuinely v funny and peak himbo this season!
