One thing I find really frustrating is that when biphobia comes up in TV storylines, it’s often defended with this argument of, “Well, that’s how the characters would feel!”

And like, okay sure but a) you have the option of demonstrating, in the show, that characters are wrong
And b) you also... just don’t have to include the characters’ opinions on bisexuality in the show at all? You’re actually actively making a choice when you write that in?

IDK, I’m just really really tired.
It feels like the more normalized monosexual queer identity gets, the clearer it becomes that the “We’re all in this together!” attitude of LGBTQ politics was always just a front*, and the Bs were always gonna get abandoned quick.

* I mean, it wasn’t that well kept a secret
Monosexual queers were happy* to include us when they saw us as straight passing allies in the fight for, I dunno, same sex marriage; but when the fight against biphobia is on, guess who’s nowhere to be found?

* Well... begrudgingly willing
BTW I’m conflating a few different things in this thread; the biphobic shows I’m thinking of were created by straight people (though I don’t think gay created media avoids this), but also... I mean where are you in the fight, friends?
