Right, going to *try* and catch up from today's @worcscc Economy & Environment meeting. Only tweeting about the bits relevant to us. Please note due to word count of Twitter that it will be summarised and far from perfect ( @adamdkent) Panel is 7 men plus guest @CllrKenPollock
Public participation: (q answered later) 4 residents asking WCC to declare a Climate Emergency, @PershoreDan asks about using energy from waste. Chris Cooke several q about Climate Emergency including Active Travel
Officer, Liz Alston: there has been an increase in transport on the roads since 2005. High adoption of SUVs which have high carbon emissions. She would like a steep drop in Co2 from transport but cannot say that at the moment.
. @adamdkent thinks the role of Active Travel should be to rail stations (in non-COVID-19 times)
. @CllrMattJenkins lots of things WCC can do to reduce private car use such as cycling. He asks officer, Liz Alston what we should be doing to promote the most sustainable form of transport.
Officer, Liz Alston: transport officers are very keen to get as much funding as possible to develop this further.
Cllr Alastair Adams (chair) asks @CllrKenPollock what businesses are doing to reduce their carbon. Cllr Pollock phone keeps ringing. Cllr Pollock doesn't know. He only quotes some figures about solar (with no source).
Cllr Alastair Adams (Chair) ending meeting. They weren't expecting lots of public participation so hadn't factored it into the agenda.
