Ok here I go. 20 years ago Colombia was not a place people wanted to go to. It was dangerous & had a really bad rep around the world. Now, Colombia is a country on the rise, one that First Worlders flock to. Who/what is responsible for that change? Honest question
Because as an outsider, it seemed to me that that transition happened under the much-hated Alvaro Uribe. What am I missing here? The world is so polarized that the left says Santos is King and the right says Uribe is God. But I want the nuance here.
Is it that, yes, Uribe made shady deals to combat marxist guerrilas but that his strategy ended up changing Colombia for the better, and he possible couldn’t have done that without stepping outside of legality? Go off, twitter
also for the condescending white males saying I’m framing this as left/right:I’m precisely doing the opposite, mentioning how it is currently framed as such and saying I wanna look further into the nuance. But these dudes aren’t trying to go beyond their marxist fantasy anyway
