A point of clarification: BethAnn McLaughlin and the organization she founded that does business as @MeTooSTEM are NOT the Me Too movement in STEM. 1/7 #STEMToo
There are a lot of us working to end harassment and bullying of members of marginalized groups in STEM, in medicine, in academia. 2/7
So once you've moved through whatever emotions her behavior has engendered in you, if you're not already doing so, give some thought to how you can support this work. 3/7
Not sure what that might be? Well, simply tweeting about it may feel satisfying but really isn't enough. Do some research on how to step up and stand beside people who are being marginalized. How can you do that on the individual level, in your workplace, at your institution? 4/7
And if you're not a member of a marginalized group, for the love of all that is sacred to you, shut your pie-hole and listen for a while. Really listen. Because we've been screaming about this, and not just in our hearts, for a long time. 5/7
I acknowledge @TaranaBurke, who way before I started tweeting gave a name to what so many of us had known and had felt for so long. Me too. 6/7
And I acknowledge that I am sending this from my home, built on land taken from the Piscataway and Nacotchtank people. 7/7.
