« And now it sucks that paler POC are labeled as white girls, not because we look like them but because they look like us »

White girls have been getting tans too dark, lip fillers etc.... that you guys forgot what they actually look like.
Also how the hell is she white passing... people saying that are insane, she’s very clearly not white to me
oh girl on the vid is @vixenesha btw
Anyways came across this from my for u page not twitter, it refreshed quickly but u can see the vid being there
Honestly it’s so refreshing to see how many people relate to and agree with this, I tried to bring up this take a few times before but had so many people disagreeing.

I think it’s bc many people interpret it as not recognizing the privilege that comes with being able to-
-pass as white. But the point that’s being brought up here does not dismiss that privilege, it just points out how white girls have been appropriating POC features so much in order to look ethnically ambiguous that we are starting to associate those features with whiteness
Idk why you guys think it’s me in the vid when I tagged the girl right underneath the tweet, and also white men stop quote tweeting this saying you like “exotic beauties”, you’re part of the problem.
I had quite a few dms asking about my personal experience with this so:

Growing up in France I was never considered or treated as white and still am not, however on social media I have had quite a few comments like that girl either mistaking me for white or telling me-
- I am white passing. It’s just interesting to see because a couple years back my features would not be considered as passing but now they do.

Nonetheless, being fair skinned and being able to blend in/ pass as white sometimes is an immense privilege that I recognize
And it ties into colorism, the lighter your skin tone will be and the more your features conform to eurocentric standards the more privilege you will have, this is not up for debate.

But it’s weird to see typically non white features such as fuller lips etc.. start to be-
-associated with whiteness due to how much they have been appropriated by white girls.

So much so that non white passing paler poc are being told they look white?
Also white passing privilege and white privilege are different in my opinion, because wether you are able to pass as white or not is very contextual.
