The four Yugas, or ages in the religion of Hinduism are Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga and Kali Yuga. Treta Yuga lasts for 3,600 divine years, or 1,296,000 years. Treta means 'a collection of three arousing things' in Sanskrit.
It is so called because during the Treta Yuga there were three Avatars of Lord Vishnu. The fifth, sixth and seventh incarnations as Vamana, Parashurama and Lord Rama. The epic Ramayana is set in this period.
Do you know that out of the eight Chiranjivis, Parshurama is the only one who is the Avatar of Lord Vishnu i.e destined to never die and remain immortal in his form?
The other Chiranjivis who are destined to remain alive on Prithvi until the end of the Kali Yuga are :
Rishi Ved Vyasa
Hanumam
Vibhishan
Ashwatthama(Son of Dronacharya)
Mahabali(who was pushed to pataal by Vamana Avatar of Lord Vishnu)
Kripacharya
Sage Markandey
In Treta Yuga, the Dharma bull, which symbolises morality, stood on three legs during this period. It had all four in Satya Yuga and two in the later Dvapara Yuga. In the immoral age of Kali, it stands on one leg. During the Treta Yuga, the power of humans diminishes slightly.
Treta is characterized by three-quarters virtue and one-quarter vice, as it is said that each leg of religion, i.e. truth, penance, religious sacrifice, and charity, reduced by one-quarter due to lying, violence, dissatisfaction, and quarrel.
Kings and Brahmins needed to fulfill their desires instead of using mere fiat of will. People grew less inclined towards spirituality and more focused on material desires. Wars became a common sight and changes took place in the climate, giving rise to deserts and oceans.
Despite these negative effects, Treta Yuga brought knowledge of universal magnetism which allowed humans to understand the forces of nature and true nature of the Universe. Agriculture and mining came into existence. Also rules to keep society under control.
Lord Vishnu incarnated as brahman Parashurama in this era because there were too many warlike Kshatriyas plaguing the Earth. He, therefore, had to wipe out most of the world's warriors. However, some of the Kshatriyas survived or more were created so their population grew again.
The Avatar of Lord Vishnu as Parashurama ended, though it is said that he continued to live on as a mighty warrior-hermit. He confronted Lord Rama years before acknowledging the latter's supremacy and retiring, he lived on in the Dvapara Yuga.
However, he failed to defeat him & stopped fighting after he was forbidden by Sage Narada & his ancestors. In Mahabharata he finds mention as mentor of Bhishma, Dronacharya & Karna. He taught Karna how to use Brahmastra.
He's said to be doing penance on the Mahendragiri mountain.
The hallmark of this era was the rise of evil in the form of the demon king Ravana. He had conquered the three worlds namely, Earth, Heaven and the Netherworld (Pataal). He had terrorized everyone. The Devas were subordinate to him.
His son Meghanad had earned the title of 'Indrajit' by defeating Indra, the King of heaven in battle. In these circumstances, Lord Vishnu incarnated himself as the son of King Dasharatha of the Suryavanshis or Ikshvaku dynasty and was named Rama.
For the sake of his father's honour, Lord Rama abandoned his claim to the throne to serve an exile of 14 years in the forest. During this time he killed Ravana for kidnapping his wife Sita. After completing his exile, he returned to Ayodhya.
He was a great and ideal king to the people of his kingdom. He performed numerous yagnas for the benefit of his people. He went to Shabari's ashram because of her sincere devotion. This showed that he only saw the true bhakti of the devotee.
He never saw whether a devotee lived in a palace or humble hut, whether he was erudite or ignorant, neither caste nor color.
He's called Maryada Purushottama, literally the Perfect Man or Lord of Virtue. Maryada generally relates to humans and not Gods.
God is away from human natures. Lord Rama behaved like a human and never showed his Avatar rahasaya. Just like the other Avatars of Vishnu, he took birth on earth to destroy the evil of the age.

All Avatars appear to restore Dharma and then they return to Vaikunta.
Disappearance of Lord Rama from the earth happened when he entered into the Sarayu River. This divine event is described as the death of Lord Rama. During this period Sita Maa(Laxmi) also disappeared from the earth when she was taken back by Bhudevi (Mother Earth).
Lord Rama restored peace on earth and established Ram-Rajya for 11,000 years before returning to his Mahavishnu form. His life and journey is one of adherence to Dharma despite harsh tests and obstacles and many pains of life and time.
