கூட்டம் முடிந்தவுடன் கம்பன் வர்ணித்த அயோத்தியை பார்த்துவிட்டு வரலாம் என நினைத்து அவரும் நண்பர்கள் இருவரும் ரயில் ஏறி அயோத்தி சென்றார்கள் ..ஆறு மணிநேர ரயில் பயணத்திற்குப் பிறகு அயோத்தி ஸ்டேஷன் வந்து அடைந்தார்கள் 2/

மிகச் சிறிய ஸ்டேஷன் - வெளியே ஒரே குப்பையும்,துர்நாற்றமும், ஏழ்மையும் - அவரை திடுக்கிடவைத்தது.. சரயு நதியில் நீராடிவிட்டு ..ராமர் பிறந்த இடத்தைத் தரிசிக்க வேண்டும் என்று புறப்பட்டார்கள். 3/

ஊருக்குவெளியே ஒரு மயில் தூரத்தில் ஒரு பெரிய மசூதி தென்பட்டது ..மசூதிக்கு பின் புறத்தில் ஒரு சிறிய - பத்தடி சதுரமுள்ள பூமி மட்டத்திற்குக் கீழே இருண்ட அறை. 4/

பூசாரிகள் ஒரு பித்தளை தட்டை நீட்டினார்கள்... இதை பார்த்து அவர் கண்களில் நீர் ததும்பியதாக பதிவு செய்ந்திருக்கிறார் ராஜன் ..

TSS Rajan was a remarkable personality from TN ... I am no literary type -but I am especially fond of autobiographies. In this bool he speaks about hsi trip to Ram janam boomi in 1916

after the 1916 congress in Lucknow he and a couple of friends decide to check out the famed Ayodhya they had read about in Kambaramayanam - they catch a train and disembark at Ayodhya - his heart sinks on seeing the station and the squalid state of the place ..

he gets excited at the splended sarayu river, there are other anecdotes -- but they then decide to take a tour of the city and excitedly ask to see Ram janam bhoomi, they are then taken to approx 1 mile outside the city to a huge mosque ..

they are then taken to the backside of the mosque to a small structure about 10Sq Ft -- dark and below the surface of the ground .. two pujaris try to get some money.. he laments the pathetic state -- 'is this place where dasaratha s son was born' . then tearsroll down..

great book !! will write about it - a remarkable man - I never knew about (shame on our edu) .. who was also savarkars room mate in London.. a surgeon, a minster .. then a farmer

also a curious mention about the place they stayed - a small temple in Ayodhya constructed a certain Yogi Partasarathy Iyengar who had a dream .. that he was called .. so he quit chennai and built a small temple in ayodhya .. stayed there.
