#COVID19 update and New evidence based guidelines: After day 10 since first testing positive for the Coronavirus, you can be discharged from isolation, especially if in hospital. If symptomatic, at least 72 hours of improvement & at least 10 days since first positive test. 1/
Also, our hospitals (just like we predicted in March) were bound to get overwhelmed if we continued admitting people who were asymptomatic instead of having them isolate at home. Rem, Covid19 has no treatment/cure. 2/
Additionally, the waiting for at least two negative tests was bound to overtaken by time/events since some people still shed the virus up to day 60. Were we going to keep people admitted in hospital for that long? The important Q was whether the virus was still viable. 3/
After day 10, it’s not. Prudent use of our meagre resources therefore calls for hospital based care to be availed for those at high risk. Otherwise we’ll continue losing lives we ought not to. 4/4
