Today on Patreon, we discuss why Hyssop is a great herb for digestion. I’ll try to keep this post as short as possible, because I know I tend to ramble, 😂.
So, we know how spiritually Hyssop is used for removals, cleansing of persons and objects. But did you know, this is how it’s beneficial to our gut as well? 👀 Let’s look into our gut shall we...
We have what’s called, “gut flora”, or “good bacteria” in our intestines. These flora destroy harmful bacteria & other microorganisms. When the gut flora contains too many harmful bacteria & not enough friendly bacteria, an imbalance can occur.
Because of this, it's excellent for digestion. The pungent volatile oils increases appetite & digestion, while the bitters are cooling & help clear toxins from the gut. It can be used to relieve indigestion, constipation, & has. It even assists with regulating the gut flora.
Hyssop is what we would consider an anthelmintic - antiparasitic drugs that expel parasitic worms and other internal parasites from the body by either stunning or killing them and without causing significant damage to the host. (Also called, vermicides or vermifuge).
If we think about why we’re using it medicinally, it sounds very similar to why we use it spiritually: to remove parasites and other leeches without doing harm to you, 👀.
A “western” diet that's high in fat and sugar & low in fiber can kill certain types of gut bacteria, making your gut flora less diverse. Limit use of antibiotics, which can wipe out healthy bacteria along with problematic bacteria, to only when necessary as determined by your dr.
This means, if we’re doing our part to stay aligned with a healthy diet, our body wouldn’t need Hyssop for the constant removal of bacteria or parasites that’s damaging to our digestive systems OR in spiritual terms:
You become what you expose yourself to. Self hexing is a thing, so did someone REALLY send something to you or alter your circumstances, or are you avoid changing what you allow yourself to “eat/digest”? Granted this is generally speaking, as there are case by case scenarios, 😊.
(I want to be clear, I’m not calling anyone out, but instead comparing the two as they go hand in hand). Some cautions to keep in mind while we’re here:
This herb should NOT be taken if you or someone you know is an epileptic or has has epileptic seizures in the past
It does induce & regulate menstruation, so if you are on HRT and currently a transitioning Transgender persons, I would not suggest the use of this herb.
I hope I stated that correctly, transitioning Trans persons (though autocorrect made it transgender). I didn’t want to assume male/female. I’m learning, so please correct me if I’ve identified wrong, 😊.
