Shahid’s moods fell into a predictive pattern.
The Build Up where I had to manage his food, sleep and sex life. The Blow Up where Shahid would yell and threaten me. And The “Apology” where Shahid would need me to absolve him of his guilt while not admitting that he did wrong.

Shahid is misleading his staff, volunteers, donors and followers.
His campaign focus is raising his name recognition and national profile by grandstanding off of the progressive hatred of Pelosi.

When I attempted to get Shahid to meet voters at bus stops, knock on doors or practice sharpening his messaging, Shahid fought me. He resisted putting in the hard work necessary to run a winning campaign.

Shahid has denied that he sexually harassed @ecroydon’s for years and has organized several people to discredit her by calling her a liar, a “troubled individual” and a harasser herself.

In moments like these, we get to define who we are. Leftist / Progressives / Socialist don’t settle for the lesser of two evils. We demand more.
This is the moment to say we don’t tolerate sexual harassers, misogynists or toxic masculinity in our movement.

Shahid should accept the harm his actions and words have caused to the whole movement and drop out of the race to focus on his own healing.

Writing this statement has been emotional but I feel a responsibility to come forward and stand with other survivors of sexual harassment, workplace discrimination and emotional and mental abuse. Although I will face a backlash, I can’t stay silent.
The left needs feminist leadership.
Look at your DSA chapters, political clubs, workplaces, and activist circles and I’m sure these comrades are already in the trenches with you. It’s up to us to start treating them like the leaders they are.
